Mrs. Dawn Garofalo's Obituary
Our dear mother Dawn Garofalo sadly passed away on August 12th at 12:45 AM at the age of 90. Just short of a few weeks from her 91st birthday.
Our mother was born on September 13, 1933, in Quantico, Virginia. She was the first of two children from her parents Anna Mae and Francis Doane. Her parents were in the military, so they traveled state to state. After graduating high school, she worked at a soda fountain shop and that's where she met her husband, Al Garofalo. They were married on October 21, 1951, in Lynn, Massachusetts. They had 2 children, Frank and Joni. Then ventured out to San Diego, California and had their last child Teri.
She worked at California Cheese Company with Al as an Office manager where she worked for many years.
She was very close to the church, Our Lady of Grace. She was a Eucharistic Minister and had many friends who loved her. She had a big heart, caring deeply for people. She liked to garden, sew, and worked on puzzles. She also loved music, especially country. Fleetwood Mac and Neil Diamond were her favorites.
She was a wonderful mother who was always there when needed the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She was a cherished member of the community in San Diego, California, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
She was predeceased by her mother, Anna Mae Doane and her father Francis Doane, her husband, Al Garofalo and her daughter Joni Lacombe. She leaves behind Raymond McMahon her brother, Frank Garofalo her son, and Teri Lee her daughter. She also had 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church located at 2766 Navajo Road, El Cajon, Ca 92020. She will be placed with Al Garofalo at Rosecrans National Cemetery.
