Delia Mae Torrence's Obituary
Delia Mae Torrence, 91, peacefully passed away on February 12, 2025. She was born on October 29, 1933, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the union of Georgia and Andrew Hollis. She was the fourth of six siblings.
In 1953, at the age of 17, she moved to Muskegon, Michigan, and in 1955, she married Floyd Torrence Jr. Their union was blessed with three children: Debra, Vickie, and Michael. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Hackley Hospital for 16 years.
On February 19, 1966, she was baptized in Jesus' name and was filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost on February 27 under the leadership of the late Bishop Willie Burrell at Christ Temple Apostolic Church.
In 1983, she and her husband moved to San Diego, California, to be near their children and granddaughter. She became a member of Greater Apostolic Faith Temple Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Charles Taylor, where she served as an usher. She also worked independently as a private duty nurse throughout San Diego and retired in 2010.
In 2016, she became a member of North Park Apostolic Church under the leadership of Pastor Mark Garcia.
Delia was known for her independence and had a deep love for shopping and traveling. She was especially admired for her exceptional cooking and baking skills.
She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia and Andrew Hollis; her husband, Floyd Torrence Jr., her son, Michael Ray Torrence; her grandson, Keith Haywood Harris II; and all five of her siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, Debra Torrence and Vickie Patton (JP); three grandchildren, Nikia Torrence, David Shaw, Jr., and Jonathan Harris; six great-grandchildren; two goddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
