Dikki Suzanne Smith Scott died peacefully under the care of hospice in La Jolla, CA on April 26th at the age of 83.
Dikki was born in Bogalusa, LA to Margaret and William Smith in 1941. On Christmas Day in 1962 Dikki eloped with the love of her life, Tom. They married at a Justice of the Peace in Oklahoma. Together they raised two children, Mike and Julie.
Dikki loved spending Sundays on the lake with family and friends, being a mother, and all animals, but especially the family pet cats. She enjoyed learning new things including becoming an avid tennis player and taking ballet and art classes. She was fun loving, a great southern cook, and had witty sense of humor.
Dikki is preceded in death by her mother Margaret, her husband Tom, and her grandson Cade. She is survived by her brother Henry, her son Mike and his wife Christina, her daughter Julie and her husband Jason, her grandchildren Jadyn and Aubrey, and a niece and nephew.
There will be an interment of cremains to join her beloved husband, Tom at the Fort Smith National Cemetery surrounded by family. Midday on Monday, May 20th there will be an informal gathering celebrating Dikki. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Nature Conservancy in Dikki’s name.
