Don A. Carpenter's Obituary
Donald Arnold Carpenter, better known as Don, passed away at the age of 94 in El Cajon, California on September 23rd, 2018. Don was a native San Diegan born on October 19th, 1923 to Earl and Ida Mae Carpenter. He was the last born of 3 children. Don was an upright gentleman and a kind loving man. He attended at San Diego High School and Cal Western University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He married the love of his life, Ms. Cecilia Carpenter on August 12th, 1949 in San Diego.Don worked in the telephone industry for over 30 years, retiring in the 80’s, but he also enjoyed working on cabinets as a hobby and to keep him busy after retirement. Don also was a veteran who served for 4 years in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant, and later got involved with the U.S.S. Midway museum in San Diego.Don loved the Lord and enjoyed spending time with his church family at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was very fond of many of his retired friends and neighbors too. There were many times you could find Don playing Cribbage and various card games with his dear friends. He enjoyed hiking and traveling as well.Don is survived by his daughter, Dianne Mascari; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
