Don Johnson's Obituary
Donald (Don) R. Johnson, born February 18, 1939 in Newton County, Missouri, passed on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in San Diego, California after a valiant struggle with several different ailments. He has lived in Chula Vista for the past 58 years and was employed at Rohr Aerospace for 45 of those years, after enjoying 13 years of retirement. Don was married to Genny for 56 years and they have two children, a daughter Debbie (Deron) Johnson of Temecula, and a son Donald E. Johnson of Chula Vista. Additionally, they have four beloved grandchildren; Chelsea (fiancé Hart) of Temecula, Rhett, Temecula, Austin, Bonita, and Connor Bonita. He is survived by one brother Orville Johnson, Chula Vista, one sister Carolyn Rogers, Carthage Missouri, a sister-in-law Bonnie (Jerry) Johnson, Barry, Illinois, brother-in-law Chuck (Rose) Cauthon, Chula Vista, and many loving nephews, nieces, wonderful neighbors and friends. His parents Joe and Florence Johnson, two brothers Johnny and Willard, one sister Phyllis, and a grandniece Haley preceded him in death.He loved baseball, both playing and watching. His favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Diego Padres. In politics, he believed in the voting process and was a major Hillary Clinton supporter. He strongly believed in her ability to be President and get the Country moving in the right direction. Never at loss for a story to share with anyone who cared to listen, top of the list was childhood events in his beloved Ritchey, Missouri. He truly enjoyed history and was never slow to voice his thoughts about current events or events of the past. He enjoyed Country music, most any performer but his favorite of all time was Johnny Cash. He had been a fan for more than 50 years!In summary, Don was a big man with a big heart, high standards and supported his view to the hilt. The children/adult children of the family always considered him a big, happy, friendly, cuddly teddy bear with a story to tell.We all love you and will always have a spot in our hearts for you-good luck on your new journeys!!
