Donald Wayne Mooring's Obituary
Donald Wayne Lovingly known as Dad, Pop G-P and G-Pop was born September 25th, 1939 in Navasota Texas to his mother Irma.
He moved to San Diego at the age of 5 years old. He and his family lived in Navy housing located on beautiful Coronado Island. Don was always proud to speak of this fact. He had the distinction of being a member of the first graduating class of Abraham Lincoln High School.
Donald lived a full life which included things such as coaching Little League baseball, to his love of music which ultimately led him to hosting his weekly kaleidoscope Blues show on KSBR radio station out of saddleback College where he was lovingly known as The Phat Kat… Don collected music of all genres and boasted an extensive collection.
He worked for the Glendale Department of Water and Power for over 30 years before his retirement. When he moved back to San Diego he drove wit the coach USA which included trips to Los Angeles to attend L. A. Lakers games, where he incedently met Shaq O’Neal
Don was preceded in death by two of his children, Rodrick and Tina. He is survived by his loving wife Vera, his sons Sean and Victor, Daughter Mignon his stepdaughters Sydney, Sunny, Shelby, Veronica and Michelle. He also leaves to mourn his 23 beautiful grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
