Donald Keith Woodward's Obituary
Donald Keith Woodward was born to Herbert Raymer Woodward and Thelma Eileen (Ludwick) in San Diego, CA on September 14, 1938. He graduated to heaven September 7, 2023 at the age of 84.
He taught in the Escondido Elementary School District for 40 years as a middle school art and social studies teacher. He earned both a BA in Education and an MA in Art. Donald and his classes produced three National Winners in the WCTU Anti-Alcohol/Drug Poster contest. Many businesses and patrons in the Escondido area will also remember the creative and festive Christmas Holiday window paintings produced by him and his students (the Paletteers) on area businesses. He loved to paint and sculpt finding joy in various mediums and materials.
He was faithful to Christ and served as a Sunday School teacher and as an Elder for many years.
Donald married Mary Adelade Ceseña January 12, 1960. To this union were born Thomas Woodward of Hemet, CA, Donal Woodward of Bowie, TX, and Anne Woodward of Las Vegas, NV. On October 25, 1975, Donald married Mary Elizabeth (Bowen) and raised her daughters Michilene (D’Ambrosio) Golaway of Berryville, AR, and Tricia D’Ambrosio-Woodward of Oceanside, CA. He is survived by his children and step-children, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Raye Elliot, of San Diego, and both wives.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, October 13th, 2023 at the Salli Lynn Chapel, Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA. A graveside service will immediately follow at 11:00 am that day officiated by Dr. Mark E. Golaway.
