Doris Mae Bates' Obituary
Doris Mae Bates, daughter of William and Zelma Huston was born on October 31st 1928 in San Diego, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Ruth Louise Huston and by her husband. Doris attended, and graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego California. At the age of 24 years old, Doris met, and married her one and only love, John Gordon Bates Sr. Doris enjoyed gardening, her role as a mother and homemaker and always had a small dog at her side. She is survived by her four children: Bonnie Lee Seifert of Austin MN, John Gordon Bates, Jr. of El Cajon, CA, Janice Littleton of Friday Harbor, WA and Jeffrey William Bates of Julian, CA, and in addition, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Prior to Doris passing away, she was taken care of by Sharp Hospice who employed the most caring people I’ve ever dealt with; located at the Sharp Hospice, Lakeview House in La Mesa California. The staff cared for her with utmost compassion, dignity, and sensitivity; the people in the Lakeview house made her family’s difficult time easier. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be directed to Sharp Rees-Stealy Hospice Lakeview Home located in La Mesa, CA.
