Doris E Cook's Obituary
Doris Elizabeth Cook (Small) passed away, surrounded by family November 17, 2022 at the age of 90, a beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, long-time partner, and friend.
Doris was born October of 1932, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina to Elwin Small and Dulcena Small. She was the middle child with older brother Robert and younger brother Chuck. Doris moved to San Diego with her family in her early school years, where she attended Dana Junior High, and Point Loma High school. With a passion for writing, Doris worked as a program director at KFMB in San Diego. After KFMB, she went on to work at Modern Kitchens and then Beasley Electric in La Mesa.
She was a lifetime member of the San Diego Bassmasters and held the position of secretary for many years. She enjoyed fishing, playing Bingo, and more recently working her puzzles. She was loved by all who knew her and will forever be missed, but never forgotten.
She is pre-deceased by her two brothers and two husbands (Winston & Robert), and survived by her partner, two daughters, step-daughter, step-son, four grandchildren, and two great-grand grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at Greenwood Mortuary in the Garden Chapel on December 1st at 11am with a reception to follow at La Mesa Senior Center (8450 La Mesa Blvd, La Mesa, 91942).
