Dorothy Mary Fitzgerald's Obituary
Dorothy Mary Fitzgerald was born on December 7th 1914 in Los Angeles, California. In 1915, her family moved to Bellflower, and in 1931 they moved to Redondo Beach. Dorothy graduated in 1933 from RBHS.In September 1933 she met Edward J. Fitzgerald, US Navy and they married in 1937 after his return from China with the Asiatic Fleet. In 1944 they returned from Norfolk, VA and bought a home in Los Angeles where they were blessed with three children: Sharon, Paul, and Ed. Dorothy worked for many years in food services at San Diego State University. She was also actively involved for many years at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church and School, helping with dinners, bazaars, and cafeteria food services.Following the passing of her husband she moved to Lakeside, CA to be near her sister Gertrude. She continued to do volunteer work in food services both at Lakeside Gardens and the Catholic Diocese.Dorothy lived out her life in Lakeside in good health and humor. Dorothy is survived by two of her three children, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be sorely missed by all.
