Jennifer Jones
Dorothy Patricia Jones, 91, of Carlsbad, California, passed away peacefully in her Carlsbad home on November 13, 2024 from natural causes. She was a resident of San Diego County for the past 60 years. Her last residence of 26 years was Lake Shore Gardens. Many may remember Dorothy on her daily bike ride in the Park and across the way to Star Bucks for morning coffee.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Ann Guest of England, her mate John Aston, husband Wilbert Snider, and former husband and father of her children Roger Jones of Carlsbad, her brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Edna Guest of England, and her grandson Jason Jones.
She is survived by her son David Jones and his mate Dawn Blackburn of Carlsbad and daughter Jenny Jones and son-in-law George Sutliff of Carlsbad and Bellport, New York. Her grandchildren are Kris Jones and wife Andreza of Oceanside, Steven Jones and wife Amanda of Oceanside, and Kyle Hanson. Her great grandchildren are Samantha Jones, Madison Jones, Luanna Jones, and Nolan Jones. She also has a nephew and niece in England, Ian Guest and Averil Stevenson, a great niece Jenny Rickwood and her husband Vince Rickwood and their son, great great nephew, Thomas Rickwood.
Dorothy retired from California Avenue School in Vista as a physical therapist aide. In her retirement, she enjoyed cruise ship vacations, sailing on over 50 voyages. She had other homes in Carlsbad, Escondido, Vista, San Marcos, and Joshua Tree in California. She was born in England and came to the US at age 16 with her parents, living in Florida and New York. Her father was a British merchant marine and her mother was a nanny. She married at age 21 and moved to California, bearing two children. She gained her US citizenship and was a working mother, raising her children with her husband.
Dorothy was the dearest and most loving mother and wife to her family. She is deeply missed and remembered by all of her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be planned at a later time.
