Eddie Carrillo's Obituary
Edward Carrillo was born on December 23, 1952 in San Diego, California. Edward, or Eddie as most people knew him, grew up in National City with his beloved parents Eddie and Mary. As he grew up, he made many friends and was well liked by everyone he met. Always the athlete, Eddie excelled in baseball and continued his love for the game as an adult on multiple softball teams. His parents meant the world to him, he would frequently drop by for a visit for no reason other than to say hello. His brother and sister, Richard and Rose Ann, remained close throughout their lives. Richard and Eddie would always greet each other with “Hey Joe”, despite neither having “Joe” anywhere in their names, it was something between brothers that cannot be explained. Eddie was always quick to give his sister a hard time, he playfully referred to her as “ugly”, but that name came from a place of affection. Anyone who knew them was well aware of how much they cared for one another. Eddie spent most of his life in the masonry industry, rising from a lowly yard kid to a store manager and eventually to outside sales. Many of his clients became more than business contacts, they became close friends. Business hours were not enough time to spend with Eddie, as business associates and co-workers alike enjoyed spending time outside of the workplace with him. He married the love of his life, Ruth, with whom he shared many wonderful moments until her untimely passing. It wasn’t until 1982 where he found his true calling, as a father of his only son Robert. That day was the last time Eddie ever thought of himself first. Eddie and Robert spent countless hours sharing their love of sports, whether it was coaching his little league team, going to Charger games or never missing any of his high school football games, Eddie always made time for his son. Devoted, caring and selfless, Eddie put all of himself into being a father. It was clear he was too good of a father to have just one child, and in 1991 he welcomed his princess Alyssa into the world. From the day Alyssa was born she stole his heart, there wasn’t a thing he wouldn’t do for her. With more goodwill to spare, he spread his unconquerable work ethic to Holy Trinity, his children’s school and church, where he helped with everything from the golf tournament to the annual Jamboree. Whenever there was work to be done at Holy Trinity, he was always one of the first to arrive and the last to leave. One would struggle to find an example of when Eddie put himself before those he cared about. He loved his friends, his family and the Chargers. Whether it was sharing a laugh, a round of golf or a good meal, Eddie just loved to be around those he cared about. In life Eddie never wanted anyone to worry about him, so remember a great moment you shared with him and celebrate the life of a truly wonderful man.
