Edward Lee Allen Lacy's Obituary
On the afternoon of March 30, 2019, God called his son Edward Lee Allen Lacy of San Diego, home. Edward, better known to his friends and family as Allen was born to Freddy Lacy, Jr. and Pamela Simpson Lacy on May 18, 1989. He came out with his fists balled, indicating he was a fighter. He lived his life as a kind and caring young man who would do anything for the people that he loved. He often defended the honor of his sisters and nieces and stood up for his friends in tough times.Allen attended Balboa Elementary School and Memorial Junior High, where as a typical teenager often hung out with his friends, until his disability caused him to slow down. He graduated from San Diego High School in 2008. After high school Allen attended TRACE Alternative School, an educational support network designed to assist young adult students with disabilities transitioning from high school into adulthood. This is where he met his beloved teacher Liz. He enjoyed spending time with Liz and his classmates participating in recreational activities, exploring the city on public transportation, and working his first job at Subway. He was very well known within the community. Allen loved his friends. He was a very likeable and trustworthy person and he was always surrounded by his Bros which included Cedell Williams (nephew), Daryl Caldwell (cousin), and Dejont’e Williams (cousin), as well as his best friends from childhood: Gabriel Serrano and Samuel Lopez. He also looked up to his older cousins Jerry Lacy, Jr. (Lil’ Jerry) and Gayland Singleton. In his leisure time Allen enjoyed watching movies. One of his favorite movies was “Friday”. Allen idolized the character “Smokey” because of his humor. He would often recite lines from the movie to get a laugh out of everyone. He loved his music, especially Westcoast rap. Whenever you were around Allen, he would always be singing something or making up a rap. He even had a rap alter ego by the name of “A-STACKS”! He admired the ladies and kept his love life private. Allen was very fond of his dog, Diamond and spent a lot of time training Diamond to do tricks, keep her healthy and well groomed; she was like his child.Allen’s father was very protective of Allen and wanted the best for Allen’s physique, so he built a gym in the front yard. You could often catch Allen outside using the exercise equipment to strengthen his legs and upper body. When Allen wasn’t working his job at Subway, he would invite his loved ones over for bonfires and barbeque in his front yard. This is where he would play his favorite tunes and entertain everyone by performing raps.Allen knew how to lift anyone’s spirits because of his strong belief in God and he shared his faith with others. Allen faithfully served his Heavenly Father as an usher at Mt. Olive Baptist Church for years. Allen wasn’t a physically strong young man, but anyone that knew him could tell you that he had a strong character and a very strong spirit, which will be greatly missed in this world.Allen is preceded in death by his father, Freddy Lacy, grandmother, Mattie Johnson (paternal), grandfather, Freddy Lacy, Sr. (paternal), grandfather, Charles Allen Simpson (maternal); his uncles: Jerome Simpson (maternal) and Dwight Smith (maternal), and his cousin Julian Caldwell (paternal). Allen is survived by his mother Pamela Simpson Lacy; his sisters: Tara Robinson, Camelley Mitchell and Latea Lacy; brother, Jeston White; nieces: Sharde Robinson and Janey Robinson; nephews Cedell Williams, Taron Robinson and Ahmad Lacy, as well as a whole host of great-nieces and nephews and other relatives.
