Edwin Lewis Fischer's Obituary
Edwin Lewis Fischer moved from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his family to El Cajon, California, at the age of 15. He graduated from Grossmont High School and attended San Diego State University.Ed went to work as a photographer for the San Diego Union Tribune in 1946 and Rembrandt Studio ASA Photography in San Diego on Broadway.In 1949, he became assistant manager at Beneficial Finance Company in San Diego, and in 1953, office manager at Associated Finance Company in El Cajon under the supervision of James Roosevelt, son of former President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.In 1955, Ed went to work as sales counselor at University Ford, which later became Bob Baker Ford.Ed married a registered nurse, Joyce, from Mercy Hospital in San Diego, in 1951; and two sons were born to them, Randy and David.Ed and Joyce traveled to several countries with Family Radio’s missionary group for the purpose of distributing gospel literature. In addition to serving the Lord in this manner, local distribution of the Word of God became a way of life for them for more than 20 years.Ed went home to be with the Lord August 27, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his son, Randy; his sister, Ruth Almgren of Rio Vista, California; and his brother, Richard Fischer of Oakland, Oregon.
