Einar Neil Johnson's Obituary
Einar was born on Sunday, March 31, 1929 in Metuchen, Middlesex County, New Jersey. He was born to Fred W. Johnson and Surena A. Aikens Johnson with a half-sister, Elma Duncan Schauer, and half-brother, John William Duncan. Another brother Fred Johnson Jr. was born later. The family had moved to New Jersey from San Diego prior to his birth because one of his father’s brothers lived in Plainfield, New Jersey. By 1935 the family had returned to San Diego where his father was a ship carpenter building fishing boats for Portugal. During his life Einar has lived in New Jersey, Riverside, San Diego County in California and Ashland, Oregon.Einar was a journeyman plumber. Einar married Florine Cora Abb Hollens on Saturday, January 9, 1954, in Bonita, San Diego County, California. He loved his beautiful wife. She was 31, he was 24. They had no children. They enjoyed traveling the United States camping and fishing. Einar and Florine made many trips to Oregon to visit her family, often for extended stays in Ashland, OR.Einar was a great storyteller and witty with a memory for details. He enjoyed visits from family… He went to nephew Corky and Evelyn’s for Thanksgivings and niece Darlene and Ken’s home for Christmas Eves. His birthdays were always celebrated with family. He had a special bond with Darlene’s husband Ken who helped him through the years and made him laugh. A highlight that made Einar happy… Corky (who always made him smile) arranged for Einar to meet his (and Fred’s) childhood friend, Don, for what was his last birthday. He loved all his family including nieces and nephews from San Diego, Colorado, North Carolina, Missouri. He was proud to hear of each of their accomplishments but especially the talent of his nephew, Peter Hollen’s. He bragged that he was in Colorado for Peter’s birth.Lemon Grove Care and Rehab Center in Lemon Grove, California was his home for many years. We’d like to thank the “Angels” there who cared for him daily. His wife, Florine passed away in Monterrey Trellis on Thursday, October 6, 2011, in Spring Valley, San Diego County, California, where they resided.Einar was the last of his siblings. He is survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews; but Heaven is now his home.
