Elaine Dorthy Morgan, age 79 of San Diego, California, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at her home in San Diego, California. Elaine was born on Tuesday, June 13, 1939 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late James Thompkins and Ruth Rowe-Franklin.Elaine leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Robert Lee Morgan, Jr.; sons, Calvin Bland, Jr. and Robert Lee Morgan, 3rd; daughters, Robbie A. Morgan and Faith Elaine Morgan; sisters, Ernestine Robinson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Alberta Williams of Akron, Ohio, and Christina Williams of Akron, Ohio; and brother, Fredrick Franklin of Akron, Ohio; as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.Elaine was raised by Mama Lou and attended elementary, middle and high school in Chattanooga prior to moving to New York City at the age of 15. At the age of 17, Elaine started working in the clubs of New York where she met Billy Bland. Eventually she moved to San Diego, California with a few stops along the way including San Francisco. After arriving in San Diego, she married Robert J. Morgan, Jr. Elaine was always been an extremely hard worker and she stayed continually busy. At one point, Robert and Elaine owned an ice cream and candy shop, Elaine also worked many years in aerospace manufacturing as well she worked and managed a store for Goodwill. Also, she volunteered many hours and was always charitable.The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the Salli Lynn Chapel of Greenwood on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 am in the Salli Lynn Chapel of Greenwood on Thursday, December 6, 2018 with the committal service to follow at 12:30 pm at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122. Final Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenwood Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113.
