As a child, she was involved in Church as well as many different ministries and worked hard to find her own way. When she looked back over her life, she truly believed that God had used her personal relationship with him to help her overcome the struggles that she had encountered.
Liz began her family with her late husband John (Jock) Edward Jones. They had three children from this union: Derrick, Mark and Jocelyn AKA Sadikisha. Because of the nature of Jock’s career serving in the US Marines they traveled around the world creating lifetime memories their family will never forget. They finally settled in San Diego, CA in 1982 where they spent the rest of their lives.
Liz joined Bayview in 1982 under the leadership of Timothy J. Winters and served diligently in Hannah Circle, General Mission, Church School, Evangelism and in several prayer and impact groups as well as volunteering in the Daily Bread Marketplace. She was a member of both Bethel Baptist and Bayview Baptist Church while in San Diego. She was a pioneer in every church home she committed herself to. She dedicated the majority of her life to her community, ensuring everyone she encountered felt her love. Liz instilled the importance of giving back to her family and her community by showing acts of service like volunteering at nursing homes, mental health awareness venues, domestic violence programs and buying anything needed at the time. She was blessed with many gifts including giving, teaching, intercessory prayer and helping others during crisis. Liz’s desire was to give herself to others by sharing Gods word, his love, hope, compassion, and comfort.
Liz went on to obtain her Associate Degree of Science in Social Work and a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Management. She worked for the Navy Public Works Center and retired in 1999. She then worked for Edgemoor Hospital where she was a spiritual advocate and received many accolades for her hard work to the patients she cared for. This included talking to residents who were upset about challenges they or their loved ones faced.
