Elizabeth H. Longfield's Obituary
Elizabeth Beringer Longfield, better known as “Betty” was born in Kernai, Austria-Hungry. She immigrated through Ellis Island to the United States as a small child. She grew up in the Chicago area, where she met and married William A. Longfield, her husband of 73 years. He preceded her in death in 2011. Betty and Bill raised their 3 children in Glenview, Illinois, before moving to San Diego in 1968.Betty was an artist; whether in her beautiful yard and gardens or painting on canvas. She loved playing cards and games. She was active in her church, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Betty was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, who would captivate family and her many friends with her story telling.Betty celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends.She is survived by her brother, John Beringer, 3 children, William H Longfield and wife Nancy; daughters Joan Obermayer and husband William, and Nancy O’Neal and husband H. Edward, 8 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be on Tuesday, September 12 from 3:00 at the Salli Lynn Chapel at the Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery, San Diego. Donations can be made to your favorite charity in her name.
