Eloise Richmond's Obituary
Born on November 13, 1941, Eloise Martin Richmond passed away peacefully on the morning of November 25, 2025, at the mature age of 84. Eloise, known to family and friends as “Pumpkin,” was a cherished daughter, mother of three, grandmother of seven, and great-grandmother of six. Pumpkin was a loved and respected leader and an active member of every community she touched.
She was born in Wilkesboro, NC, as the only child to Leroy Howell and Queen Ester Martin. Eloise was the third of five children raised by her mother. Growing up, she was very athletic, lettering in track and basketball in high school. After graduating in 1955, she moved to New Jersey with her older sister to start the next chapter of her life.
Shortly after starting this chapter, Eloise met and married the love of her life, Henry Richmond Jr. Together, they conceived three boys: Vincent, Victor, and Vernon Richmond. Pumpkin, as a single mother, successfully raised her boys until all of them graduated from high school and began their adult lives. In 1986, Pumpkin started her next chapter when she moved to San Diego, CA, and never looked back!
As an adult, she stayed active in sports, leading many teams to victory in slow-pitch softball. As a family and community leader, she taught and mentored countless children and adults as a professional educator. She led by example, earning her Bachelor of Science in Theology and promoting faith, education, and self-improvement throughout the years. Her faith guided her every step of the way.
As the proud and loving Matriarch, Pumpkin has joined her eldest son Vincent of Jacksonville, NC and survived by two of her sons: Victor of San Diego, CA, and Vernon of Frederick, MD. Grandchildren: Antoine, Vanesa, Vernon Jr, Victoria, Victor Jr, Vanetta, and Vincent. Great Grandchildren: Jaalyn, Janelle, Vernon III, Sir, Keira, and Vida. She will be deeply missed; her legacy, faith, and impact will forever remain in our hearts.
