Elvira G. Mendez's Obituary
Elvira G. Mendez was born on May 21, 1919 in Black, Texas to Pasqual and Maria Leonor Gonzalez. She passed away peacefully on October 20, 2015. Elvira lived in Gomez Palacio Durango, Mexico for several years before coming back to the states. She ended up moving to San Diego in the 1940’s. She was the mother of eight children, twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was married for 65 years to Erasmo Mendez, who passed away in 2003. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and sewing. Elvira and Erasmo spent time being involved with the San Ysidro Senior Center, enjoying many activities and social events. They also spent time traveling to many cities throughout the US and Mexico during their retirement years. Her door and her heart were always open to her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Scripps Hospice for the care and comfort given to Elvira.
