Dr. Erma Ruth Davis
Licensed International Evangelist Missionary, COGIC
Our beloved Erma R. Davis was born in Lindale, Texas to Clytis and Gussie Morris on August 15, 1940. She was raised in Fort Worth, Texas as the youngest of three daughters. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, was baptized, and received the Holy Spirit at 11 years old.
As a young adult, Mrs. Davis earned an A.A degree from Solano Community College in 1971 and became a licensed vocational nurse. Despite being isolated and shunned by her peers, she earned an A.S in Nursing from Napa Valley College in 1973. She became the first Black registered nurse to graduate from that program.
In 1989, she received her license as an International Evangelist Missionary at Greater Victory Temple COGIC in Monterey, California. By 1998, she had earned a B.A in Theology from Emanuel Bible College in Macon, Georgia.
In San Diego, California, Evangelist Davis served as a missionary and Sunday school teacher at St. Stephens's COGIC, while enriching her life through Bible college. She graduated from Next Dimension University (NDU) with a Master of Divinity (2015) and received the Scholastic Achievement Award for her 4.0 GPA. She went on to earn dual Doctorate of Philosophy degrees in Religious Studies and in Ministry (2017) and began teaching at NDU in 2018.
In addition to her educational and religious zeal, Dr. Davis loved to travel . She has visited Spain, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, Ethiopia, South Africa, Japan, India, and more. During her latter years, she returned to Georgia and was a faithful and active member of Cathedral of Faith COGIC in Atlanta.
On August 19th, 2023, Erma Davis took her last breath and became an angel. She is survived by her children Chequitha Davis, Melodii Peoples, and Earnest Davis; her grandchildren, Markus Albino, Keito Albino, Brii Honor Maltos (m. Esai Maltos), and Shani Davis; her great-grandson, Marlee Albino, and a host of relatives and friends.
