Ernest Everett Piper's Obituary
In memoriam of Ernest E Piper, 92, of Spring Valley, California who passed away December 20th, 2022.
Ernest was born on April 27, 1930, in Maine. He joined the Navy at 18 and moved to San Diego, California where he served on the USS Perkins (DD-877). He met the love of his life Joyce (Fell) in San Diego. They married on March 16, 1952.
Ernest Joined the National City Fire Department and retired as a Captain. He spent his retirement years enjoying his garden, daily walks with his dogs Buddy and Lily, watching the Padre games and attending church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joyce (Fell) Piper and daughter Tanis Abney.
Ernest is survived by his son Curtis, Denise (Daughter in law) and their two children Danielle and Connor Piper (Grandchildren), Paul Abney (Grandson), Monica Pineda (Granddaughter) and two Great Grandchildren Tristan and Amani Pineda.
Ernest was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life service celebrating Ernie’s life will be conducted by Pastor Aaron Boehm on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11:00am at Shepherd of the Lutheran Church located at 9191 Fletcher Parkway, La Mesa, California.
He will be laid to rest at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego.
