Ernest Makoto Toyama's Obituary
Ernest Toyama was born on January 25, 1933 in Santa Barbara, California to Takeo and Tsuyako Toyama. He was the second of four children. After finishing high school, he was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War. Ernest worked for 35 years as a Sealer at Rohr Industries, an aerospace company. In June of 1961, he married Setsuko Teresa and enjoyed 58 years of marriage. After retirement, Ernest enjoyed gardening, working on home improvement projects and travel. Ernest was a hardworking family man who was a perfectionist, animal lover and homebody. Becoming a father and grandfather were the most important events in his life. He enjoyed listening to progressive jazz and ballads. Ernest leaves behind his loving wife, Setsuko; two daughters, Terry and Cindy; grandchildren, Elise and Sophie; siblings, Frances and Miyo.
