Ernesto Lara Luna's Obituary
On Sunday, June 21, 2020, Ernesto Luna, loving husband and father of six children, passed away at the age of 74.
Ernesto was born on February 26, 1946 in San Marcelino,Zambales, Philippines to Maximo Luna and Maria Lara. A self-taught mechanic, he managed a small fleet of buses while raising his family with Erlinda Lopez who he married on January 22, 1972. They raised five sons, Richard, Ricarte, Roderick, Christopher, and Jerry; and one daughter, Ruth. In 1997, the family immigrated to the United States where they made a home in San Diego.
Ernesto was well loved by all and known for his kind and compassionate spirit. Though he was a man of a few words, he imparted pearls of wisdom to a listening ear at every opportunity. He also had a love of travel having visited several countries in Asia with his family.
Ernesto was preceded in death by his father, Maximo Macapagal Luna and his mother, Maria Lara. He is survived by his wife Erlinda, his six children Richard, Ricarte, Roderick, Christopher, Jerry, and Ruth.
The viewing will be held on Thursday, July 2 & July 3, 2020 at Greenwood Memorial located at 4300 Imperial Ave. San Diego, CA 92113 from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm. The funeral service and internment will be on Sunday, July 5, 2020, 10:00 at Glenn Abbey. Flowers may be sent to Greenwood Memorial and donations directly to the family.
