Thinking of my aunt Ethel Slayen quite often - I have some china she gave me and use it daily which reminds me of her. As a child and young adult I enjoyed my time with her on hikes and visits. She was a smart and principled person and always proud of her friend who she mentored in reading and literacy for many years.

I'm connected on the Slayen side. If any family on the other side are inclined to reach out I would appreciate a conversation. I was disconnected for many years and missed her transition from this earth.

I have fond memories of my Aunt Ethel. As a child I loved going bird watching at Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary. Later I would watch her dog while she traveled and enjoy hearing her stories upon return. I admired her long time commitment to the League of Women Voters, as a literacy tutor and her participation at her Synagogue. My mother Lillian Slayen Rubenstein always cared for Ethel deeply.
