Everett Butler Lawson Jr's Obituary
Obituary of Everett “Skip” Lawson, II
Everett “Skip” Lawson II, age 57, passed away the morning of August 2nd, 2023 in San Diego, California.
Skip was born in Ukiah, California the eldest son of Everett Lawson Sr. and Carolee Lawson. San Diego, California was the place he called home after moving to San Diego in the first few years of his life, and after returning from 13 years living in Sonoma and Marin County, California.
Skip graduated from Valhalla High School in El Cajon, California (Class of ‘84) after which he attended the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and University of California at Davis. He lived and worked in the technology field in Northern California until returning to San Diego in 2000. Soon after, he married Sandra Schaper and raised their child in Santee, a small community in east San Diego County, as a full-time father.
He enjoyed long distance cycling, brewing beer, and was an epicurean. His sense of humor and gracious attitude towards others led to having many valued friends gathered throughout his life. He was a devoted father and participated in many activities with his son including martial arts and cycling across California. Skip is remembered well and fondly by his many friends and family members. He was a wonderful father, husband, and friend. His wit and sense of humor was indomitable. He never failed to bring humor to any gathering lucky enough to involve him. He touched many people during his life, and all have been better off for it. Skip will be sorely missed, and his circle of people will spend many hours in the future laughing and crying, telling stories, and remembering his unique light.
Skip is survived by his wife, Sandy Schaper; son, Bradley Lawson; mother, Carolee Foreman, sisters, Mary Kost, Tabitha Brouhard and Sabrina Witt; brother, Christopher Lawson; nieces and nephews.
The family invites friends to a Celebration of Life at the home of Skip’s wife and son on Saturday, August 19th, 2023, from 1-5 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donating blood to your local blood bank.
