Frances Bourdette's Obituary
Frances Bourdette passed away on March 3, 2023 at the age of 99. She was born in San Diego
on September 24, 1923 to Isaac and Mary Louise Peck. Frances lived a full and rich life because
of her boundless energy and enthusiasm. She raised three sons while working as a hair stylist,
saying that she was proud that her sons became good men. She was an extremely hard worker
her whole life and worked at a variety of jobs including owning a hair salon and serving as a
teacher’s aide into her late 80s. Frances joined the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) in her 40s
and was a faithful and active member. She went on three year-long LDS missions that took her
to Texas, North Carolina and Australia. She was devoted to her family and embraced her
grandchildren. She loved to do crafts and often gave handmade gifts at Christmas and
birthdays. Frances did extensive ancestry research on both the Peck and Bourdette families,
filling several binders with documentation. She also journaled and her written stories about
growing up in the Great Depression, experiences during WWII and her life in post-war America
makes for fascinating reading. Into her 90s, she remained physically active, doing Tai Chi and
Silver Sneakers, participated in the LDS church, lived independently and enjoyed spending time
with her family. She moved into Bayshire Carlsbad Memory Care at the age of 98, where she
had a good quality of life until her death. She is survived by her sons, Eric, Dennis and Mark
Bourdette, her grandchildren, Garth, Dylan, Ryan, Cassie, Dean, Erica and Kevin, and numerous
great grandchildren.
