Frances Rose Nelson's Obituary
Reflections Frances Rose Jones-Nelson was born September 26, 1940 in Thomasville, Georgia to her proud parents Ellis and Josie Bell Jones. After graduating high school Frances relocated to Los Angeles, California to join her siblings living there. Frances later met and married Tommy Lee Nelson, a Navy man. They were relocated several times, to Washington, San Diego, Hawaii, Utah and Los Angeles. They later became proud parents of one daughter Leanna Nichole Nelson. Now Frances had the family she had always yearned for. Unfortunately Tommy preceded her in death. Later Frances became a proud grandmother of a little girl, Kristian Nelson Peay, whom she dearly loved. Frances held various jobs but, her greatest desire was always to become a Law Enforcement Officer. She finally made her decision kind of late in her life. By now she was a single parent whom life had handed a lot of lemons to which Frances had often made into lemonade by the grace of God. Although some of her friends and family members told her she was too old to enlist by this time, Frances knew that the law rule book was on her side and she remembered that our father had always said, “There is no such word as can’t.” Frances became a member of the Los Angeles County police force where she served proudly for more than 25 years retiring in 2007. During which time she served in Park Patrol and Street Patrol etc. But, her greatest challenge and her proudest tour of duty was as gate keeper, where she guarded the door to Los Angeles Angels District Attorney’s Office the D.A.’s Ira Reiner and Steve Cooley etc. Frances was a very generous person. She had so many areas that brought her joy and she certainly brought joy to many others. Frances loved to paint, sing and dance. But most of all she loved working in her yard and playing with her animals. If you knew Frances, you shared her many funny stories and jokes. As well as various stories about her loved ones, her animals and her flower gardens. Frances will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memory – her daughter Leanna Nichole Nelson; granddaughter Kristian; sisters Etta and Josie; brothers Ellis, Anthony, Wallace and Fred and a host of relatives and friends, especially her very best friend Nancy Leiva. We thank God for sharing Frances “Rose” with us.”Til we meet again”Thank you for your LoveThank you for all the Precious Memories
