Frances Church Racette's Obituary
Long time Coronado resident Frances Church Racette, 94, passed away peacefully on 10 July 2017. Fran was born in Norfolk, Virginia in 1923, where she lived until she met and married then Lieutenant William A Racette in 1950. Throughout her life she enjoyed cooking, hosting parties, playing bridge and was an avid sports fan. After his Navy retirement, they returned to Coronado in 1973 and embarked on a life of small business ownership, extensive travel, and far-reaching civic participation. Fran and Bill officially retired in 1996 and moved to The Landing, where they enjoyed watching the ship traffic on the bay. Fran was preceded in death by her husband Bill after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa R. Hall and two sons, William Anthony Racette and Steven Thomas Racette, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her ashes will be interned with her husband at Fort Rosecrans in a private family ceremony in August.
