Francis J. Burger's Obituary
Francis (“Fran”) J. Burger passed away on December 5, 2022, in his home on his ranch in Gardnerville, Nevada at the age of 89. Fran was born on June 27, 1933 to George and Jessie Burger in Detroit Michigan. Fran was a resident of San Diego for over 32 years and a resident of Nevada for 25 years. He was married to Rosemary Burger (deceased) for 32 amazing years and with his wonderful companion Loveda Cooper for 25 years. He was second to the youngest of 9 children (2 siblings passed in infancy). Fran was the last surviving sibling of Clearance, Loretta, Roland, Bernice, Benedict and Marie. He was a respected and loving son, brother, husband, uncle, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend. At a young age he decided to join the U.S. Military under the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean War. In September 2022 he was invited to take an Honor Flight to Washington DC with fellow brother and sisters of the different armed services to visit the Memorials erected in their honor. Fran was a hard-working, smart successful entrepreneur and businessman in San Diego. For many years Fran was the illustrious owner of the Pacific Sign Company and later the Vegas Club card room. Fran was very proud of these businesses that he built, ran and later sold. Fran’s ambition allowed him many great opportunities, one of which was to enjoy his love to travel. He had many memorable adventures across the country visiting landmarks and family. When he retired his lifelong love of horses was the reason he built his dream ranch in Nevada, where he handpicked and planted 375+ trees on the property. He loved working on projects at the ranch which kept him young and fit. He really enjoyed it when the Wild Mustangs horse would come to visit. His last wish was to stay on his property until he passed, and he was peacefully able to do that. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Following the service a reception will be held at the McGrath home, 43 Millan Court Chula Vista, CA 91910
