Gale Norine LaGace's Obituary
In loving memory of Gale N. LaGace Gale was loving, caring, generous, kind at heart and persevering, with that bit of naïveté that made her FUN to be around. Gale loved gardening, music, animals, nature, arts, crafts, books, travel, singing and faith. She was a very talented lady. Most important to her were her Family and Friends. Gale loved all of her time with them. She was happy to have enjoyed a FULL life. Due to the number of lives Gale touched, she carried many titles; “Gale, Friend, Sweetheart, Galette, Sis, Auntie Gale, Mom, Mother in law and Grandma Gale”.
She spent her youth in Pennsylvania and San Diego. She worked at Ryan Aeronautical, during which time she met the love of her life, Chuck. They married and, with children, lived in Riverside and the Bay Area for Chuck’s work with UC Berkeley. Gale did daycare at home to help support their family. Gale and Chuck shared a love of life and many talents, all of which were apparent throughout their families. They were proud parents. Her strength and resilience was proven when, at the young age of 39, Chuck died. Becoming sole support of her family, Gale moved back to San Diego.
In a short time, she worked multiple jobs, finished College and found a career with the Lemon Grove School District. She was the schools’ librarian, ran the media center and ended up doing all the printing for the district, from which, she retired after 23 years. She also ran her own business from home in the 90’s. Like a butterfly to each flower, she enjoyed her involvement in many group activities doing what she loved. Throughout her life, Gale celebrated the highs and pushed through the lows with admirable strength of character, spirit and charm. Her beautiful smile, along with thoughts of the beautiful person she was will remain in our hearts.
Gale passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones, September 5, 2024. She was 90. All of us that were lucky enough to know and love her are forever thankful.
