Gary Richard EwingFebruary 12 1947- June 9, 2019Gary Richard Ewing was born to Richard and Frances Ewing on February 12, 1947 in North Tonawanda, NY. Gary completed his formal training in dental technology by graduating first in his class in Milwaukee in 1967. After graduation, he came to San Diego and became established in his profession. During the 50+ years of perfecting his craft, he operated many successful labs, led and guided the Dental Lab Owners Association of California and mentored numerous colleagues.While Gary loved fixing smiles, this love paled in comparison to the love he had for his faith, wife and family. Gary professed to serve God in 1966 at age 19. Gary married Judy in 1968 and their love story continued for over 50 years. They shared their interest in travel and in having an open home for friends, family and ministers. Gary and Judy worked together to raise their children, Eric and Rebecca. Those who knew Gary best understood that it was his faith that was of paramount importance to him and the key to his success as a husband, father, businessman and friend.Gary shared his love of music and singing by participating in several community choruses. His supportive nature, love for people and travel enabled Gary and Judy to meet and inspire hundreds of friends locally and around the world. His interest, care and ability to encourage and uplift others has resulted in a life well lived and so impactful to so many.Gary is survivied by his wife Judy and his children Eric (Shelly) and Rebecca (Keven). He has three grandchildren, Bryce (Taryn), Erica and Kai.There will be a viewing on June 21 from 6 – 10 pm at Greenwood Mortuary (Salli Lynn Chapel). The furneral service is at Hillsdale Middle School, 1301 Brabham Street, El Cajon on Saturday, June 22 at 11:00 am. Lunch to follow. There will be a private interment for family only at Greenwood Memorial Park at 2:00 pm .Donations may be made in Gary’s honor to the Silverado Hospice or to the San Diego Food Bank
