One of my fondest and most cherished memories of my mother, Gaylon, is how she never let a day end without letting us know she was thinking of us. No matter how tired she was, she would always say “Night Night, just checking in’” or find some sweet little way to let us know she was okay. That was her — thoughtful, consistent, and full of love in every little thing she did.
Gaylon was my best friend. Her sense of humor was always on point — sharp, witty, and effortlessly funny. She had a way of making me laugh even when life was heavy, and those laughs still echo in my heart. Even in the roughest of times, she found a way to keep going, to push through with grace and grit. That strength lives in me now.
We shared countless quiet moments — just being present with each other — and I hold those closest. Whether we were talking, reminiscing, or just sitting in the same room, her presence was enough to make me feel grounded and safe.
I love her deeply, and I miss her terribly. But I know she’s still with me. I carry her spirit, her strength, her laughter, and her love with me always.
