George W. Drane's Obituary
In Loving Memory of George Willie Drane
Born April 20, 1926 – Died January 4, 2021
On April 20, 1926, George Willie Drane was born to parents Noah and Rena Drane in Pickens, Mississippi, the first of 11 children. He learned to work hard with his family in the cotton fields, and
growing other crops in Mississippi. He used his good work ethic as a laborer on the U.S. pipeline and
later as a trucker in Texas. George married Gertrude Meeks, had a family of 8 children, and were
married 40 years. Gertrude preceded him in death in 2006.
In 1990 George attended a Bible revival held by Elder Allen Savory in San Diego. He renewed his
faith in Jesus and was baptized as a new Christian into the Seventh-day Adventist faith. He later met
Margaret Li Drazzah, a native of San Diego, and married. They were members of the New Hope
Seventh-day Adventist church for over 20 years where they remained active and involved in the church
ministries. Margaret preceded him in death in 2016. George held onto a strong belief in God and
remained faithful until his death in the early morning hours of Monday, January 4, 2021. He leaves
behind his children, George Jr., Mary, Willie, Gloryan, Sarah, Katherine, Paul, and Beverly. Also left to
mourn are his sisters Esther, Bessie, Naomi, and brother Cornelious Drane, of Miami, Florida, 17 grand-
children, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, and 6 step-children.
He prayed some powerful prayers and remained faithful to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. George
looked forward to meeting Jesus one day and may we all be ready to see Jesus on that great day!
Rest in peace dear one, this day, January 26, 2021.
