George Hicklin Jr.'s Obituary

George Hicklin, Jr. passed away on October 13, 2021, at the age of 85, in San Diego, CA. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, George came out a hero and stayed strong until the end knowing he would meet his late wife Barbara Ann Hicklin in heaven.
George honorably retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the Navy after a distinguished career. He was the recipient of multiple VM Service Metals. After his military service George went on to further his education and received his Master’s Degree from National University. Over the years George had an enthusiastic love affair with golf, guns, and Outback Steakhouse.
Mr. Hicklin was a dedicated member of Foundation AME Zion in Rock Hill, SC, and New Hope Friendship Baptist Church in San Diego where he faithfully served. He would always want it remembered that he loved his pastors especially Pastor Milton Chambers, Sr.
George is survived by Daughters: Almanda Bonita Steeple (Matthew) of Baltimore, MD and Darlene Ashleigh Jeter (Timothy) of Grand Prairie, TX; Sons: Anthony George Hicklin (Hillary) of Charlotte, NC and Stanley Warren Hicklin of Atlanta, GA; Sisters: Mary McNeely of Charlotte, NC, Rosa Blondia Blake and Margie Hicklin, both of Rock Hill, SC and Thelma Cotton of Georgetown, SC; Brothers: Jakie Hicklin of Rock Hill, SC and Chris Hicklin (Ingrid) of Richmond, VA.
