George Glen Riley's Obituary
George Glen Riley, 91, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015. On March 11th Glen fell at home and fractured his left hip. He was taken to the VA Hospital, La Jolla, CA., where it was determined he would need to be bed-ridden for 6-8 weeks. He was then moved to the Palliative Unit where he received around the clock care from the loving and caring VA staff. His condition weakened and on Friday evening, March 27th, he quietly and peacefully passed away. Glen was very proud to have served his country during WWII as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. His work ethics, strong sense of right and wrong, and his determination to get the job done, all stemmed from Glen’s belief that “Once a Marine, Always a Marine”. To our Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Uncle Glen, and “GUG” – “Semper Fi” – We love you and will truly miss you. Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Belle Riley, his sister, Shirley May Hooper and his four brothers, Tom Riley, Jack Riley, Hugh Riley, and Jim Riley. Survivors: Glenda Sue (Susie) Balistreri, Chula Vista, CA., Steven Bruce Riley, Park City, UT, Michelle Logan, Chula Vista, CA.; Grandchildren LT Jeffrey Balistreri, Lara Sheridan (Chris), Bryn Dahl (Chase), Erin Riley, Lauren Varley (Jason), and Kristen Kendrick (John); and 8 Great Grandchildren: Jaden, Riley, Liam, and Micah Sheridan, Saylor and Riley Dahl, London Varley, and Beau Kendrick.
