George Earl Turner's Obituary
George Earl Turner, 65, was born on October 29, 1951 in McNeil, Arkansas to the late Bobbie Turner and George Turner Jr. He departed this life peacefully on December 6, 2016.George was the oldest of six children raised in a loving family in McNeil, Arkansas. He graduated from Southern Arkansas University before leaving McNeil to pursue more opportunities. He joined the United States Air Force and traveled extensively during his nearly 10 years of service. In 1977, while stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, he attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he met his future wife. After a five-year courtship, George separated from the military and he and Vickie were married. When he moved to San Diego he was immediately employed as a civilian at the North Island Naval Air Station where he continued to work for over thirty years. He retired from North Island in January, 2013 after forty years of government service between the Air Force and Navy. Retirement allowed George to do what the enjoyed most – relax, tinker around the house, visit family in McNeil and generally enjoy life. George lived life to the fullest in his own quiet way. He enjoyed science fiction, growing fruits and vegetables, fast cars and music. George was easy-going and deeply devoted to his family.George leaves to cherish his memory his wife Vickie Turner, his three sons, Marcus, Matthew and Maurice Turner, daughter-in-law Rowen Turner, two grandchildren Kylee and Matthew Jr. Turner, father George Turner Jr., father-in-law Asberry Turner, three brothers, Bernard, DeNoris and Vernon Turner, two sisters Gwendolyn Turner and Barbara Payne and a host of other relatives and friends. He will never be forgotten!Welcome me into the peace and tranquility of eternity. Goodbye for now my friends and loved ones!
