Gerald W. Espey's Obituary
Gerald Wayne Espey, better known by the name “Jerry”, passed away at the age of 65 in La Mesa, CA on November 12th, 2018. He was born in Alabama on December 4th, 1952 to James and Kelly Espey.Jerry loved nature and he loved puppies! He loved life. At the age of 21 he moved to Oregon where he joined the Forestry Department training program. Jerry got most of the way through the program when came home to Lakeside, CA for the Holidays. Unfortunately, Jerry had a serious accident which left him in a board & care home permanently. This did not stop this determined young man. Jerry quickly took up new passions! He began collecting baseball caps and sunglasses, and praising his Lord on Sunday mornings. He could be seen sporting a new hat which would match his new love, keeping excellent time with his air drum. Jerry loved Jumbo Jacks and chocolate shakes, family dinners on Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and Linda’s Christmas cookies. We will miss Jerry forever, but will smile every time we think of Dad and Jerry fishing for that one who got away. His surviving family members are his mother, Kelly Espey; his sisters, Gearldine Susie Espey (Denton, TX), and Patricia Roggenbuck (Yucca Valley, CA), Linda Dorman (Sweet Home, OR); and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind prayers and wishes, and those who cared for Jerry and LOVED him as we all did. Thank you!
