Memorandum Date: February 19, 2016 To: The Shivers Family From: The Greater Skyline Hills Community Association Cathy Ramsey, President Regarding: Mrs Gereather (Geri) Shivers; Leader in her Home, Church and Community (A Gentle Giant) Mr. Cleo (Chuck) Shivers & Family, the members of this community have also suffered a great loss and will truly miss our friend and neighbor. Mrs. Geri Shivers was one of the founding members of the Greater Skyline Hills Community Association. There was an unreal crime wave in the community, but after getting together with local law enforcement and positions, Geri and her band of neighbors spoke loudly as we all said "Not In My Neighborhood." We organized in 1991 and she was directly responsible for changing the 950+ reported crimes in 1990 to less than 75 in 1991. Pictures attached with this memorandum will show Geri joining in cleanup projects (she was truly down in the trenches), in attendance at community meetings, at the first neighborhood block party with more than 2000 people enjoying the day, at an award ceremony. Once Geri cooked spaghetti for over 50 gang members and the neighborhood association where all sat across the table and discussed how we could clean-up the crime, graffiti and drug problems. When Los Angeles faced their flood devastation in 1993, Geri led the discussion on how we could help those neighbors. She shopped and mailed care packages. She was always there, whether it be sharing gifts to help new homeowners beautify their homes, feeding neighbors and the homeless, helping the sick, throwing wedding showers, and especially praying for her family and entire neighborhood. In personal conversations, she would use the words "Any How" and that is when you knew something good was about to be said. I have continued my involvement in community affairs because Geri encouraged me by saying, "you are doing a great job." Now we all say" Geri, you did a great job. "
