I was thinking of my childhood friend today only to discover she had passed way. Gilda was my next door neighbor in LA on Buckingham Road. She was 3 years older than I so she was definitley like a big sister to me. I have a twin sister so she always called me twin even though I knew she knew which one I was. We hung out at her house and talked about everything from nails, and guys, to her trying out for the Lakers and her big date with the actor from the TV show Room 222 Eric Laneuville. We laughed about how short he was but then so was she!
I remember waiting up for her to call me just to tell me how it went and I loved when she got a sports car and we zipped around town whenever she would come up from San Diego. Or
Another great friend that has also since passed was an up and coming reporter and had moved to San Diego. I was visiting him and we went to go see her. It was so great seeing her and reconnecting.
The next time she visited her mom's house we both had kids and her son David took my daughter Danielle to the movies at Magic Johnson Theater. So cute. I don't know if he even remembers that! In true teacher mode she sent me tips on helping my kids with their handwriting..lol etc. When she met my husband we learned she was a day older than him!
We somehow lost touch and over the years I have googled her to find an address I remember in San Diego and a phone number that was not hers.
David I havent seen you in forever but somehow know you graduated college and did your mom proud. I am so sorry I couldn't find her to reconnect before her passing as I have truly missed her. I don't know if you will ever see this but if you do would love to connect. You mom was the best!
