My grandmother was an incrediable women and very loved by her family. She also has a great grandson in heaven with her, his name is James "Jamey". My thoughts and love will always be with her.

We loved Gladys so much! She allways smiled when we saw her! Anthony and Maura enjoyed her visits and looked forward to walking with her! She was a good listener and had really great advice! I looked up to her and hope I will be remembered as good of a mother and wife as I knew her to be! She will be truly missed, I'll allways think of her whenever I see a hummingbird! We were privileged to know Gladys before her move to Castro Valley and were able to keep in contact with her. We'll miss those "chatty" calls and her smile and hugs when she came down to visit in San Diego. We were fortunate to visit with her a few days before she made her final trip to be with John. God bless the family and friends and we'll see ya "Gladdy".
Gladys was a special, unforgettable woman. I am glad to know her through Aunt Judy and Uncle John. She will be missed greatly.

GLADYS ALFORD, 83, formerly of La Mesa, California, died Friday, April 13, 2012. Gladys was born August 20, 1928, in Waynesboro, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, grandsons, Sean McBreaty and Kevin McBreaty, and great-grandson Adam. She is survived by daughter, Deborah Alford, and sons, John Alford, Jr., Donald Alford and grandchildren, Hether Alford, Tiffany Dingo, Robert Alford, and Michael Alford. A memorial "Celebration of Life" will be held in Houston, TX on Saturday, May 12, 2012 and in Castro Valley, CA on Saturday, May 26, 2012.
