Gladys W. North's Obituary
Gladys W. North entered the world as Gladys Pearl White on 3-22-1921 in Norfolk, Virginia. She entered eternity on 11-17-2009. Gladys spent her childhood and young adult life in Norfolk. There she met and married Herman Moore Eversole, with whom she had 3 children; Charles Lowell Eversole, Daniel Edward Eversole, and Susan Carol Eversole. Herman’s navy career of 31 years took the family around the world; Hawaii, the US, Naples, Italy, Rota, Spain, and ultimately San Diego, California. Herman died in 1965, and is buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. In 1969 Gladys met and married her soul mate Edward Hawley North. Both were devoted Christians, serving at the church where they met, Otay Baptist Church. Gladys and Eddie had a contageous spirit of adventure, both piloting their small plane around the US and Mexico, swimming, snorkeling, riding motorcycles, and on and on… Gladys and family lost Eddie after 13 years of their marriage, in 1982. Gladys retired from a teaching career of 19 years shortly after his death, and traveled the world, mainly European countries. Her heart’s desire was to stay in her home, which she did, with her cat, untill her death. We, her family, take from her her Christian faith, her sense of adventure and travel, her strength, and of course her determination (stubborness). She will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: her son Charles Lowell Eversole and wife Sheri Jayne, his son Dolan Eversole and Melia, Sky and Ky; her son Todd and family, son Daniel Edward Eversole and Jan Eversole, his son Tobin Eversole and daughter Athena, her daughters April and son Kaiden and Kristin; and daughter Susan Carol Haro (Eversole), her son Ian Cecena and wife Kelly, their daughters Summer and Samantha, her daughter Apryl and John Carlson, her son Kyle Smith and Colleen and their daughter Kyleen. We love you and will miss you!Arrangements under the direction of Greenwood Mortuary, San Diego, CA.
