Gloria Marcelene Combs' Obituary
Gloria Marcelene Combs was born to Edgar and Ochie Green Wesson in Hope, Arkansas. She left Arkansas with her family to San Diego, California where she attended, Memorial Middle School and graduated from San Diego High School. Gloria graduated from Kelsey-Jenny college and earned her clerical certificate.
In November of 1952, Gloria married her late husband, Elyah Combs Jr. They were married for 53 years and together they had 8 children. Gloria accepted Christ and was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Dr. S. M. Lockridge. She was an active member and sang in the Sanctuary Choir, was involved in Youth for Christ and was a part of the women’s mission. She was also a long-time member of the United Baptist Church under the pastorate of Pastor Ray Smith.
Gloria is survived by her seven children: Evelyn Combs-Dare, Yolanda Smith, Christopher Combs (wife Kelley Combs) Leslie Combs, Aaron Combs, Fransiscus Combs (wife Anna Combs) and Marcus Combs (wife Michelle Combs). Her sister Jean Wesson. Laurie Combs (Pre-deceased, daughter). Gloria is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
