Gloria Lozano Salcido, was born on June 26, 1944 in El Paso, Texas to Ana Perez and Jesus Lozano. Gloria was a homemaker who raised her 7 children, and 5 grandchildren as her own. She is survived by the 11 children (Henry, Frank, Armando, Jesus, Johnny, Marcos, Esteban, Ruben, Georgina, Monique, Angelic) she raised and loved unconditionally; 12 grandchildren (Celia, Priscilla, Henry, Ernie, Manny, Sofia, Amanda, Raul, Ariana, Saylah, Annette and Andrew); 11 great-grandchildren; 8 siblings; many nieces and nephews; and in laws. She loved her family, friends and her beloved community in Barrio Logan. Being with her family was what Gloria enjoyed most of all!Her family was her everything. Her role as a mother and a grandmother was one of the most important jobs she had as a title. This is where she drew her strength from, the love and needs of those around her. Most importantly this where she leaves her legacy. Gloria always gave love to not only her family and her friends but those who came across her path in life. Her doors were always open to those who needed her.Gloria fought many different battles of hardship that would’ve made many of us give up, yet through all the obstacles she endured, they never crippled her love and compassion for others. In 1994 Gloria was diagnosed with breast cancer ultimately she went on to win her fight. She went 23 years free and clear; until August 2016 when she was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. She fought a courageous battle to the end, and though the cancer took away her body it never took away her spirit, her hopes, her fight, and her love for life. She lived life to the fullest!Gloria gained her wings Thursday morning August 10, 2017 at the age of 73. Leaving behind her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, her siblings and many nieces and nephews as well as friends, and community who all loved her. We all are mourning her physical presence. She has left a hole in all of our hearts, an unfulfilling void within our family. In the last few days of Gloria’s life, she was surrounded by those who loved her everyday. Love remained her focus, and in so many, many ways she was able to show that love to us until the very end. “I love you,” was ultimately her last words. Gloria lived beyond the time many believe she would, because she was the ultimate warrior breed with a lot of fight in her.
