Golden M. Grant's Obituary
Golden Mckinley Grant left his earthly vessel on Nov. the 15th after a brief but intense struggle with cancer. He had just turned 65. He was born in San Diego, and spent most of his life here. He tried to live a few other places but always came back to east county, mostly El Cajon. After graduation from ECVHS he began his career as a tech, excelling in the HVAC field. He ran his own shop, The Cooling Store, in Lakeside for many years. He had many loyal customers, some of whom also became his friends. He was known as The “G-MAN”!Golden was a car guy. Some of the hot rods he owned over the years included a bad to the bone 56 Chevy Bel Air, a 64 Chevelle SS, a 68 Camaro Rally SS, and his last project, a 69 Camaro Z/28 SS, which he had restored to OEM condition, with more horsepower, of course. He would often take his “rides” to some of the local car shows to display his pride and joy and to talk wrenchin’ with other car “nuts”He also LOVED ocean cruises! Along with his wife Lisa, they sailed the Seven Seas on many different cruise ships to faraway ports all over the world. He loved a private balcony where he and Lisa sipped cocktails and watched the open seas.Golden also enjoyed many different kinds of music. When it came to Rock and Roll, the was no such thing as “Too Loud” [especially Led Zeppelin].His humor and compassion will long be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him. He will have a place in our hearts and lives as long as we ourselves walk this earth.Golden was preceded in death by his Dad “Willie” and his mother Ora, and his loving sister-in-law Etta. He is survived by his loving wife Lisa, his brother Bob/Sarge{Tammy} mother-in-law Emma, sons Justin, Steven, Dustin and Travis and loving grandsons Bayden, Ryder, and Aden.He is further survived by several nephews and nieces as well as grand nephews and nieces, as well as an extended family of many uncles, aunts and cousins.Go now in peace our brother…knowing you are loved.
