Gordon Williams' Obituary
Gordon William (Gordy) is a native San Diegan, born on March 12th 1941. Gordon grew up in the South Bay community. Attended Sweetwater High School. Met and married his wife Arvilla (Meeker) Williams in 1959 and was married until her death in 1992. Gordy has 2 children Daniel and Deanna, and 3 grand children, Bryce, Sophie and Walker. Gordy joined the Painters’ Local 333 in 1959. gordy became the business Representative in 1972 until 1985, then became General Representative for the International (AFL-CIO) until his retirement in 1995. Gordy’s proudest achievements have been with his volunteer work beginning with voter registration march in Laurel, Mississippi in 1962. Gordy Organized painting and drywall for the Boys & Girls Clubs in Chula Vista, Encanto, Clairemont and National City. He also organized volunteers for the Ronald McDonald House and Project Concern. Gordy served on the Board of Directors for the Leukemia Society, San Diego Lung Association and Co-Founded the San Diego Coalition. Gordon served on many Boards, from the National City Park Apartment to the Coastal Commission. With the hope to improve the lives and environment for all San Diegans.(No services are scheduled)
