Guadalupe P. Romero-Martinez's Obituary
Guadalupe (Lupe) Romero-Martinez was called home by our Lord on the 6th day of October, 2019. She was born to the late Ramon and Ramona Perez at Dos Pueblos Ranch, in the county of Santa Barbara on July 1st, 1931.Lupe shared many fond memories of her childhood living on the ranch with her siblings and cousins. Her parents moved the family to San Diego in late 1930s where they secured employment at the Pacific Tuna Canning Company. Together with her siblings, Florence Mireles (deceased), Juanita Vargas, Ignacia Bermudez (deceased), Estella Mora, Ruth Cesena Meeks (deceased), Raymond Perez (deceased), Joe Perez, and Maria Elena “Lena” Collins (deceased), the Perez family went on to grow and thrive.Lupe married Olayo Romero Jr. (deceased) June 5th, 1949 and were parents to Christina Kramer-Narvaez, Gloria Gutierrez (deceased), Olivia Crisostomo, and Richard D. Romero (Sandra). Lupe was widowed on June 5th, 1970 and raised her children into adulthood. She was employed at Hewlett Packard and after she retired, she opened her floral business.Lupe married Joseph Martinez (deceased) June 3rd, 1997 and welcomed Sonja Rodriguez (Louis), and Richard Martinez (Carol), and Joseph Martinez (Theresa). She is survived by a combined 13 grand children, 17 great grand children, and 1 great great grandchild.Lupe’s favorite activities were traveling, visiting her son in Texas, attending family events, attending grand children’s sporting events- Little League baseball games, USA swim meets, soccer, softball, opera concerts, and loved her private singing, guitar/piano performances by her grandchildren. Lupe loved playing Bingo and her newest obsession, “Baby Sterling.” Lupe never made plans without saying, “God willing” and always began her morning praying the rosary for her family and for those in need of prayer.Services will be on Saturday, October 19th, at Greenwood Memorial Park. Viewing is at 9:00 A.M., Rosary 10:00 A.M., Memorial Service 11:00 A.M., Graveside service immediately following.
