H. Wallace and Nancy C. Hartin's Obituary
In the early morning hours of Friday, August 10, 2018, Homer Wallace “Wally” Hartin, Sr. (9-10-1927) gently passed away followed a few hours later by his wife of 67 years, Nancy C. Hartin, Sr. (11-15-1929). Wally was the son of the late Homer Wood Hartin and Edith Lucille McCormick Hartin. Chula Vista was his lifelong home. In his early years he played the xylophone and glockenspiel in the Bohnam Brothers’ Boys Band. He attended Sweetwater High school where he was head yell leader and ran track. He continued on track teams in the Army and at San Diego State. He was a Kappa Sigma and graduated in 1951. He served as a Medical Tech while in the Army. Some of Wally’s activities included: Peking Duck Lunch and Billiards Club, Lion’s, CVAC, San Diego Country Club membership, San Diego Jocks, and volunteering for the Hilltop High baseball team.Nancy was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN to the late John Emile Reimann, Sr. and Marion Josephine Perusse Reimann. As a young girl she was a Girl Scout, loved spending summers with her family boating on Gull Lake, and trained springer spaniels. She was a Delta Delta Delta at University of Minnesota before moving to attend San Diego State where she met Wally. Nancy’s activities included: leadership roles in Las Primeras, Cook School room mother and PTA president, GSS, and gardening.Nancy and Wally are survived by their children: Linda (Craig) Scott, Edith L. Hartin, Wally (Ginny) Hartin, Jr., Margaret Hartin, and Nancy Hartin, Jr., nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and devoted neighbor, Ralph Nieders. They were preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole Hartin DeGrow.A celebration of life will take place on Saturday August 25th from 1-5pm.
