Harry Fansher Humphrey's Obituary
Harry Humphrey was taken to the hospital on January 5th 2022, his 83rd birthday and left us on January 23rd 2022. Harry, in his easy going way, with his vast skills and knowledge, made a big difference in the San Diego tuna industry. He made many international trips delivering tuna boats and truly enjoyed being on the water with his colleagues who became lifelong friends.
Harry found his passion for boats early in life. After serving honorably in the United States Coast Guard, he spent the next 50 years working as an engineer on the beautiful San Diego waterfront.
When he wasn’t docking or undocking a boat, he loved being outside in his garden growing vegetables to pass out to neighbors and friends. He loved camping with his family in the mountains and desert. Every afternoon, he enjoyed his whiskey highball, sitting on the swing he designed for his kids.
Harry leaves behind his beloved wife Judithann Humphrey of 45 years, son David Humphrey (Bro) and daughter Diana Humphrey (Tiger) and his older brother Robert Humphrey of Modesto, CA who will all miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Harry E. Humphrey and Florence Humphrey of San Diego, CA. At his request there will be no service.
Harry was a proud and supporting member of the Native Sons of the Golden West and E Clampus Vitus “Clampers”. Both are fraternal service organizations dedicated to historic preservation, documentation of historic structures, placing of historic plaques and other charitable functions within California. He was also a Freemason, as well as a supporter of many charitable organizations.
"May the seas calm down to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home, and may the land of a friend always be near."
