Heinz Reiter's Obituary
Born in Osnabruck, Germany – February 11, 1936
Father – Heinrich Paul, Mother – Elisabeth Emma
Siblings – Edgar (brother) Ortrud and Hildburg (sisters)
Heinz immigrated to America in 1955, where he learned English,
became a carpenter and joined the National Guard. He met and later
married the love of his life, Erna Lind on November 21, 1959. They
raised three children and were married for 62 years before Erna passed
away on March 3, 2022.
Heinz enjoyed camping and fishing, as the mountains were his favorite
place to be. He had a love for music and enjoyed singing and would
often be heard whistling his favorite tunes. Dancing with Erna at the
German Club was also one of his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed sports,
especially soccer. He was a sanctioned referee, enabling him to officiate
many games including SDSU.
Heinz worked his way up in the construction business, eventually
becoming a foreman and ultimately a superintendent. He supervised
many high-profile jobs in San Diego, Orange County and Beverly Hills.
He was involved in the construction of many local landmarks such as
the Sports Arena, San Diego Stadium and Golden Hall. After retirement
he continued to be a member of the German Wagon Train camping
group. He had a steadfast determination to always stay busy and
helped others when he could.
Survived by his children- Elisabeth Reiter, Steven (Jacqueline) Reiter
and Erika Reiter.
Grandchildren- Kurt Nare, Ashley, Melissa and Erich Reiter.
